Calves keep on coming - now we are down to only two cows who haven't had their calves yet. That will make it 18 this year.
This week's featured calf is number 11:
A classic black-white-faced heifer. Other than some white on her belly, she's all black other than that panda-face. Found her hiding out under the fence, away from her momma and safe in the shade. Once I got her through that fence again, her all-black Angus momma came over to claim her.
And here's your chance to give her a name - just reply to this email with your inspiration(s)...
Cattle Eye infections: Commonly known as "pink eye", this can be wildly infectious as the cattle rub on each other. But it doesn't happen every year. We've gone years without any, and only one or three incidents in a year. This year, I had about a dozen outbreaks. And a sizeable vet bill. No particular common cause.. Some were calves, some full-grown cattle. I asked a farmer out of my network what she used to treat such cases - she replied, "Mix diatomaceous earth in with your minerals." So, I got a bag of this stuff and a new bag of my loose minerals, and mixed them about 50/50. Weird, but that stopped all the infections. Vet said that combination hasn't been "clinically studied". Well, OK - but it worked. (And it was about $150 per cow per visit to get them in for an antibiotic shot. Figure that cost out for 12 cow/calf visits.) Also put out a bucket of apple-cider vinegar (diluted). The calves would look up with puckered-up faces, and then sink their noses back in the bucket. ACV recharges the cows internal biotics, improves their digestion. Lesson learned.
Cozy Cottage (Tiny Home) Progress
Sheathing is very close complete at this writing. Only trick is that we got hit with a huge heat dome with five days of dangerously high heat. So I stayed inside and recuperated, mostly. Only a few days left of sheathing once it cools off enough to be tolerable outside.
Then it's painting and electrical, then outfiting, which means shelving and storage, a mini-kitchen. A porch extension is last, which folds up against the porch uprights for moving - which predicts it's move to a new location.
After that, the mini-office gets finished and installed nearby.
Fiction Re-release - Ghost Hunters Anthology 14
Two more Ghost Hunters anthologies after this one. At least they are all done but the fancy 3D covers, so it makes the whole process go faster.
The adventures of the Ghost Hunters continue - with more exotic locations and hair-raising paranormal exploits than ever before.
This latest anthology of short story fiction by S. H. Marpel and various co-authors brings you new ideas to digest - all in the short periods of time you have available.
Explore such ideas as:
- When a digital ghost is deciding to become human, she seeks out a spirit-guide who knows more about sex than any human alive, because...
- A shunned young woman sets out to find out about the real world and encounters its dangers as well as true friends who keep coming to her rescue (although she saves herself before they arrive...)
- Where a shoemaker meets two spirit-guides and regains years of his life by teaching them his craft.
- An old lover returns to haunt the man who she felt had condemned her to a wretched life as a castaway - and exact her revenge...

New! If You Can Count to Four Audiobook!
Audiobook contains: 20 streaming or downloadable audio chapters from the complete original book. Hours of listening pleasure. These basics I use daily to change the world around me into a better one for everyone I know.
You Can Get Everything You Want Out Of Life
There are basic laws in this universe that will work for you if you know how to apply them. They work for anyone who knows they exist and how to use them.
The law of electricity works for all of us. We can burn your house down with electricity or you can light your home with it. You don't have to be a genius to do it. A child three years old can push a button and turn the lights on.
Millions of people have been taught to believe that the rules of success are indeed so very difficult and complicated that surely they could never learn them.
I found out that anyone can be genuinely successful if he will learn the exact same "rules" that the successful people learned and use them.
I'm going to lay down a simple basic way and you can have anything material you want to have and you can be anything you want to be. These are scientific things that work every time if you will do it in a simple way.
We can decide what we want in life in a home, in an automobile, in the clothes we wear, anything that we want in this world--any type of furniture, any type of a home, any type of an anything.
Regardless of your background, your lack of education, your lack of knowing anyone who is supposed to be important, your lack of funds, or any other seeming lack, you can still be what you want to be and have what you want to have.
If you have just one little desire right now that you wish fulfilled and you don't know exactly how to go about it, then you are ready to learn how to “Count to Four".

Maybe a new fiction work...
The itch to write original work returns. I don't know how long this will be, but I'm into this now, probably due to all the heat I've had to hide out from - and more coming on. This picks up the story of Tessa and Chad from Death by Marketing. Of course, something puts them into dire straits and forces them apart. But the kids in Joe's barn loft also show up on their first adventure. Plus Brigitte. So, plenty of characters to add their two cents. Between an upcoming vacation and working to finish off that tiny home, this may take awhile to work up. So, stay tuned.
Coming soon - more courses, audiobooks, and even podcasts!
After I discovered I have a lot of audio books and "book-casts" (audiobook as a podcast) unpublished, I started putting them up on Gumroad in addition to anything I already have on Findaway. These also come with publishers' discounts and Pay What You Want. Again, giving you every chance to get great value by buying direct - and we can always use saving money these days...
Some new books working in the background.
These are really along the three/four main lines of interest I've worked down for decades now. What I'm working up is getting weekly videos out on each area. (And, if the audio is good enough, to also produce these as audiobooks.) Mainly this goes down three lines of non-fiction and also my fiction creations:
- Strangest Secret - which also includes Napoleon Hill's works and Count to Four, etc.
- Becoming A Writer - which includes and springboards off that key book and also adds in my other research toward creating perennial top-selling books.
- Four Acres and Independence - while I've worked on grazing, this is just a small part of having a sustainable and high quality-of-life situation. This book gives a nice start for preppers or anyone who simply wants to live more naturally.
- And - Fiction. I have to review and rework my priorities for new short stories and then finish up everything I have notes for (which is some two years of stories at one per week.)
This means three videos each week (generated through a service), plus a new fiction story and it's video trailer. Lots of work. Means I have to get all this farm work and renovations either out of the way or into a specific slot every day.
Studying Romance continues - in person.
As I tipped you off above, we're taking a vacation together - Smoky Mountains. I'll pre-schedule newsletters for you though. It will only be a week, and should be fun. Sister is taking care of the cows and calves while I'm gone for eight days.
And meanwhile... The updating and re-publishing continues.
There's one more anthology after this - the Ghost Hunters Primer. Once these are all done, I start an adventure in advertising. My creative work will then be split between updating other fiction anthology series, and building non-fiction courses. But look for video trailers for each book...
So - stay tuned...
Oh - wait, there's more: The recent results just confirm all I've been telling (some of) you for years - you can actually have and be anything and everything you want out of life. Really. Whether it's finding a dear companion or a million-dollar salary. And it's all in that "Strangest Secret Collection" (my characters named it the "decoder ring"). You only have to take the leap of faith and put it into use...
(Again, to get your updated copy, just reply to this and ask - I'll send you the most recent edition if you don't have yours or misplaced it.) As well, I do need to get some courses up, so I'll start working these in once I get all the major non-fiction books republished.
